Clay crafts, particularly as a kind of souvenir, began to grow in Nepal following tourism activities. Furthermore, the Prajapati tribe of Bhaktapur (who live on both Thimi and Bhaktapur) is bringing a new method of making pottery and creating art from it.
Back in the past days, clay crafts have been used for embellishments and other purposes. The earthen container (Ghaita) for bringing water, earthen utensils for cooking and frying grains (Hadi), serving liquors (Sali), and plating prepared dishes.
However, these items are rarely seen in use nowadays. As a result, the practice of clay crafting evolved from essential daily applications to ornamental and appealing crafts.
